C1PH3R.0N3 DJ-MIX by Shamus Coghlan

Sometimes the best way for people to truly understand the music is to put it in The Mix. This set is pure Techno: moving from dark and dub, through acid and electro floor-bangers, and finally into warm, atmospheric vibes to bring it all home. Every track is either my own production or a remix I’ve created, collected over the last 20+ years. Listen on a good pair of headphones or a big system, and decode the cipher. 😉 Special thanks to RWYS Recordings for supporting these remixes and giving me the chance to do my thing.

It always begins with a strong foundation.

Special thanks to Sean Tate and Strand for allowing me the pleasure to contribute, hear, and be part of the experience, and for including this music in the mix.

Phenotype

For those who know  !

Dig Deeper and witness.

Back in the days, radio waves transmitted music across the land, taking listeners on a sonic journey.
Sounds of the future, where light gleams off objects and transports the mind to the farthest reaches.
Through modulation, time itself is stretched and warped—
not by racing BPMs,
but by the depth and movement of sound digging and churning the grinding machine.

Breath deep……

Ausländer EP (807-004)

Back in 2008, moving into 2009, the culture shock hit me—and it hit me hard. Here I was, in a land where I wasn’t a native speaker, struggling to understand the language, dealing with the authorities, and without internet or an easy way to communicate back home. Most of the time, I relied on cafés for brief internet access, but back at the flat, there was no TV, no internet—nothing. It was a different time back then. 😉

The feeling of not belonging, of not being able to play any records, with so-called friends making excuses for why I couldn’t come over (even when I offered to pay), cut deep.

The result was Isolation—darker, colder, bangers built for the dance floor. 😉

Penetration was about the passion to resist and push deeper—to bring the culture we had worked so hard to build and weave it into society. You don’t fly across an ocean to make mediocre sounds.

This EP is about overcoming, not isolating—because when we work together, we are all stronger. And in the end, non-compromised music is the only thing that changes the situation.

First Two Videos: “Docking Procedure” and “Distance”

There has been some new sounds happening in the background with Shamus well he is working on some new material. Not to be strictly dance floor in these two tracks/songs but more of a sonic journey. Yes there is a time to play with the eyes and ears together and something to hopefully expose more of the techno music. The two new videos linked below where shot, edited, by Shamus himself. They include time lapse flights from Toronto to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada in Docking Procedure and the TGV train footage from the Journey starting in Munich-Paris, then Paris- Marseille, and a final stop in Dresden. If you are watching carefully you may notice it is all in reverse 😉

The Docking procedure is time lapse, well the Distance video is actual real-time speeds of the TGV. Both where shot with iPhone video and edited in Final Cut Pro X.

Sound in the studio for the music was done with Korg Volca Beats, Elektron Analog Four, Eventide Effects and Plugins. Lots of Analog there captured at 24bit 96KHz.

Please enjoy and thanks for checking them out.
